Sardegna in anticipo

I have a few hours left of last-minute preparations before I go to sleep and wake up to a day of travel. I'll be taking the train to Milan, then a metro, and then a bus to the airport of Milan-Linate. From there it's a 1.5 hour flight to Cagliari, Sardegna, a 2.5-hour wait for Oli's arrival, and then a 3.5-hour (at best) drive to Cala Gonone where we'll be spending the first 3 nights.

I'm excited and anxious--excited for all the vacationing and being reunited with Oli, slightly anxious for all the driving. It'll be my first road trip with a rental car where I will be driving stick-shift, something I first learned 3 years ago but only started to master this past week with the help of my cousin/uncle (it's complicated). Then there's the whole "getting lost" bit, which I'm not too worried about since we'll be on an island and my relatives have lent me their GPS. It's hard not to have high expectations for the scenery--the beaches and water are supposed to be spectacular--but I am going to try not to let my imagination run wild. I'm better off that way.

I've decided not to bring Chloe (my laptop) with me since we won't have wifi and I am a huge time-waster with the internet (my unnecessarily late bedtimes are proof). I will keep a written journal (yes, the old-fashioned way!) and blog about my adventures when I come back to Milan.

Here is an outline of my itinerary:
  • June 20-22, Cala Gonone (central-east coast)
  • June 23-25, Palau (northeast coast), where we are planning to take a day-trip to La Maddalena and perhaps Bonifacio (Corsica), and to see the beaches on the north coast
  • June 26, Cagliari for a taste of the city
  • June 27, flight back to Milan

It's going to be a tight schedule but I am telling myself to try and see as much as I can without overdoing it. The plan is to enjoy the beaches and water, and not to just take a few glances. And please please please let me get a tan without burning!

Anyway, in the future I'll need to return to see more things with Nicky! ROIGHT?

Looking forward to sharing my adventures with you all when I return. Until then, have a wonderful week!

Today's word of the day is in anticipo which means "early" or "beforehand".
