On bees

Quite often I receive mail from my fans with questions such as "how do you afford to live in Florence?"

There are two things you must know about me.
  1. No such fan mail (or fan for that matter) exists
  2. I can't really afford to live in Florence
Now that these things are clear, let me lament to you on bees. You may barely ever give them any thought, but for the past several weeks they have buzzed around in my mind. No, I am not living in a heavily bee-populated area, nor am I developing some kind of schizophrenia. The thing is, I have developed the habit of drinking Twinings vanilla or fruit tea in the kitchen everyday after lunch--and on the occasional evening before bed some chamomile--and, if you know me well, you know that I like my hot beverages with a reasonable amount of sweetness (some of you may deem it too sweet), so of course I need to add honey.

Fact: I have gone through over 4 kg of honey since I have arrived in Florence a bit over 8 weeks ago.
Fact: Honey, particularly acacia honey (which happens to be my weapon of choice), is expensive. Think 7-9€ for each 1000g. It adds up.
Conclusion: At this rate, it would be worth starting a bee farm.

Posh fully supports this idea and we both watch in shock as my honey rations deplete each day. Granted, she's in Budapest right now (returning on Easter), but when she was here we had this bee farm conversation a couple of times.

I am open to donations and, while we're at it, instructions on how to start a bee farm. Feel free to also buy me all the necessary materials and in return you will have my gratitude and increasing blood glucose levels.

Today's word of the day is miele, meaning "honey". To me it is liquid gold.
