Firenze Express

My aunt and uncle from Milan came to visit me this weekend to see how I was doing and to be tourists in the city. I was very happy to see them after two months apart (already!) and was looking forward to playing the part of guide for a couple days; but, as luck would have it, I am in the middle of my second Florentine cold (third of this year in total) and could not be as energetic or fun as I had hoped to be.

Our first stop was to I' Ritrovino de' Servi for some yummy and messy lampredotto. Nothing says "Welcome to Florence" like cow's stomach!

The "tour" went as follows:

Saturday
Inside the Duomo (Santa Maria del Fiore)

View of Florence from the top of the Campanile di Giotto (Giotto's Belltower)

Copy of Michelangelo's David in the Piazza della Signoria

Santa Croce and a Ferrari exhibit

 Sunset in Oltrarno

Not pictured: Piazza della Repubblica, Ponte Vecchio, Chiesa di Santa Felicita, Palazzo Pitti, Gelateria alla Carraia, Chiesa dei SS Apostoli, bistecca alla fiorentina at I Cambi.

Sunday
Tomb in front of San Miniato al Monte with view of il Duomo in the background

Inside San Miniato al Monte

Piazzale Michelangelo

Mini Coopers in a piazza near my apartment (not really a tourist attraction)

Not pictured: Mercato di San Lorenzo

The weather on both days was sunny and warm. By Sunday afternoon it was almost 30 degrees--unbelievable!

Today's word of the day is raffreddore or "cold". I want to be rid of mine soon!
