Villetta

Last year, I listed my 5 resolutions for 2013.

I'm excited to announce that I am less than a month away from accomplishing the second one. It took almost two weeks of concentrated searching and sifting through rental ads on Craigslist, probably around 10 viewings, and one dream apartment lost (though I now see this as a blessing in disguise), but on September 1st I will move in to the already christened Villetta (little villa).

My first own place means so much to me. I have dreamt about being able to make where I live truly mine for some time, and although my childhood home has all the comforts one could want, I feel like all the new decisions and responsibilities that come with independence will only make me a better and more well-rounded adult--not to mention one who is more comfortable with the demands and changes of life.

I will gain almost two hours a day from shortening my commute, and in return have more time for yoga and sleep (other goals!). I will be in charge of how I spend my time. I will get to have friends over. I will be the maker of my happiness.

There will be a lot to do over the next few months--I only have a bed and reading chair to bring from home, so there will be much acquiring needed--but being able to take my time to choose each piece of furniture to welcome to Villetta, and decorating it as I see fit, mean the world to me.

I will feel a deep sense of pride and accomplishment. I only wish that Giagi would be able to see it too.
